The Cuban businessman and influencer Sandro Castro, grandson of Fidel Castro, drew attention on social media again after posting a video on his Instagram account, where he commented on the capture of former Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces.
“Good evening, this is Vampirash, adjusting my international lens,” Castro began in his message, published on January 4, a day after Delta Force apprehended Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, in an operation ordered by President Donald Trump.
The grandson of Fidel expressed that he felt "connected to the people of Venezuela" and called for the freedom and democracy in that country to be determined by its own citizens. He also sent a direct message to Donald Trump where he demanded a fair trial for Maduro.
However, at the end of his video, Sandro posed a question that left many followers puzzled: “What did you do with the 50 million? Whoever has that, send me a hidden message.”
The comment about the 50 million did not go unnoticed by internet users, especially those who support the theory that Maduro's capture was possible with collaboration from within Miraflores. In this sense, Sandro's joke inviting someone to "write to him in hidden mode" could have other connotations.
"Now we know that if they offer $5,000 for Díaz-Canel, you will be the first to deliver him," said a user in the influencer's post. Another person noted, "That's a lot; for $1,000 and a case of beer, he delivers the whole family."
In a press conference from the White House on Saturday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded to the question of what happened to the 50 million dollars that were offered for Nicolás Maduro: "We captured him, so we saved that money."
