The Cuban comedian Ulises Toirac reacted on social media to the confirmation of the death of 32 Cuban soldiers during the U.S. military operation in Venezuela, which ended with the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

“I was working and just saw the news. 32 deaths. How do I process that they died defending someone who, to get him out, walked over their bodies and then arrives smiling in the U.S. wishing a happy new year and good night?” wrote Toirac on his Facebook account.

The message appeared after the Cuban regime disclosed the identities of the 32 Cuban military personnel who died in the operation, officially confirming the presence of troops from the island on Venezuelan territory. According to information released by official media, the deceased belonged to the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, and were carrying out "missions at the request of counterpart agencies in Venezuela."

The recognition by the Cuban regime marked a shift from its traditional stance, which for years denied the presence of Cuban military personnel in Venezuela. The official revelation included the names of the deceased and a declaration of national mourning for two days, confirming what the government's discourse had denied for years.

In the comments on his post, actor Luis Alberto García expressed his support by writing: “With anger and total disbelief. I propose that this be the process.”

Among the responses received, some users defended the military operation in Venezuela and criticized Toirac's stance. The comedian replied: "There's no connection between the two. I still hold the same opinion about both: Maduro is a dictator, and military operations in another country are illegal."

In another exchange, a user accused him of being contradictory, and Toirac replied: "I reiterate my criticism of the invasion and I again say that Maduro is a cynic and a phony. If you see contradiction, that's your problem."

Days earlier, after the news of Maduro's capture broke, Toirac had published another message in which he expressed his rejection of the U.S. invasion, while still condemning the Chavista leader. On that occasion he wrote: “No. I do not applaud any invasion. Not that of Ukraine, nor that of Venezuela. None. The people pay for the ideals (interests) of politicians. Civilians and young people are cannon fodder.”

In his subsequent message, the popular Cuban comedian once again emphasized the human consequences of the Venezuelan crisis and Cuba's role in the conflict, following the official confirmation of the deaths of Cuban military personnel in Caracas.
