The Cuban shortstop Alex Brayan Batista recently left Cuba with the goal of seeking a future contract with a Major League organization, according to insider Francys Romero on his social media.

Batista, 13 years old, was a member of the Cuba U-12 team that participated in the Pan American Championship in Panama in 2024, where he delivered a strong offensive performance by batting .313 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs.

A native of Guantánamo, the young player is regarded as a five-tool prospect, capable of performing both as a shortstop and in center field, a versatility highly valued by scouts.

According to sources from the aforementioned communicator, Batista will continue his development at the Sánchez Academy in Santo Domingo, one of the main hubs for training international talents on their way to MLB.

His preparation process will focus on the physical and technical development in anticipation of future eligibility to sign professionally.
