The interim president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, reappeared this Wednesday on the social network X, where she had not posted since 2024, with a message calling for national unity and to maintain stability following the downfall of Nicolás Maduro.
“We are reaching out through this means. Venezuela remains standing, with strength and historical awareness. Let us stay united, moving forward towards economic tranquility, social justice, and the welfare state that we deserve to find ourselves in,” wrote Rodríguez, who assumed power after Maduro was captured by U.S. forces on January 3.
Your message arrives following a survey by The Economist and the firm Premise that revealed widespread public support for the military operation that ended with the capture of Nicolás Maduro. According to the poll, 80% of Venezuelans approved of the military incursion, while only 13% opposed it.
The study, conducted between January 9 and 13, 2026, also indicates that more than half of those surveyed now have a better opinion of the United States and that 68% demand the call for presidential elections within a maximum of six months.
In terms of political leadership, María Corina Machado leads in voter intention with around 45%, followed by Edmundo González (15%) and Delcy Rodríguez (10%).
The Economist interprets the results as a sign of social optimism, although it warns that the Trump administration must ensure a swift democratic transition to prevent hope from turning into frustration.
