The Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó reported that Chavismo is allegedly implementing a coordinated strategy to create the appearance of internal divisions while keeping its grip on power intact.
In a message posted on the social network X, Guaidó stated that the siblings Delcy Rodríguez, the current president of the country, and Jorge Rodríguez, along with Diosdado Cabello, “are not opponents, but partners,” and that their apparent confrontation is a political spectacle.
"They play good cop, bad cop. While some talk about dialogue, the other represses," wrote the former interim president, while asserting that the true goal of the hard core of Chavismo is to ensure impunity and seize power. According to Guaidó, it is not about naivety or miscalculation: "Everyone knows who they are."
The statements come in a context of political speculation, following reports suggesting that the Rodríguez brothers may have facilitated Nicolás Maduro's downfall due to their own ambitions and because they believe his political cycle is over. For Guaidó, this narrative is part of the same script of deception from the regime.
Recently, the opposition leader also referred again to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, whom he described as “a man of his word”. Guaidó stated that Trump fulfilled commitments made to him during a meeting in the Oval Office in 2020. “What he told me he executed with firmness and determination,” he wrote, referring to Washington's subsequent actions against the chavista leadership.
In another post, Guaidó reiterated that a real democratic transition in Venezuela necessarily requires the total release of all political prisoners, which he described as a "fundamental and priority" step. According to the leader, without justice and freedom, there can be no talk of dialogue or genuine change in the country.
With his messages, Guaidó seeks to dismantle the narrative of a fragmented Chavismo and warns that any complacent interpretation of internal tensions could end up legitimizing a strategy designed to prolong authoritarian control.
