"Get me out of here": Axere bursts onto the scene with a song about living another year in Cuba

The singer is known in Havana for his song "Todas las que me gustan" and his collaboration with Wampi, "¿Quieres Ser Mi Pocha?". This new song retains his carefree style but paints a stark picture of Cuban society and the dreams of young people on the island.

The young Cuban musician Axere is heating up social media with his new track "Another Year in Cuba", a song that has become the desperate cry of thousands of young people dreaming of emigrating.

Premiere on December 31, 2025, the song has accumulated over 38,000 views on YouTube and already has several viral videos on Instagram.

Axere, alongside producer Drumglass, captures with irony, rawness, and rhythm the generational fatigue in the face of the island's endless crisis.

"Get me out of here."

The theme blends rage and tenderness in phrases that depict everyday reality with dark humor.

“As my account is going, I will turn off the Morro in 2050” or “I can endure anything, but I could not stand it if my best friend drinks the Coca-Cola of oblivion”, are some of the memorable lines.

The song contains strong lyrics, but that language resonates with the frustration of a youth who feels time slipping away without achieving their dreams, under the pressure of a society that forces them to seek personal fulfillment outside the country.

In the video, directed by @neztor_poveda, a family celebrates New Year's Eve on a rooftop in Havana. They joyfully share what little they have, but at midnight, after the toast and kisses, everyone steps out with their suitcases to walk around the block, a tradition that symbolizes the desire to leave Cuba.

Chronicle of a Exhausted Country

Amid references to blackouts, the price of the dollar in El Toque, lack of transportation, housing issues, and the restrictive measures of Donald Trump, Axere illustrates the sense of total standstill in the country, where those who cannot emigrate are left with no choice but to endure, to "tough it out."

The young musician achieves what many political speeches fail to accomplish. He describes despair, but does so without losing the Cuban spark and preserving the human side, that essence that resides in every Cuban and, amidst so much disaster, refuses to give up on creating and one day living the best this country has to offer.

“Another Year in Cuba” is an uncomfortable yet necessary song, a blend of protest, catharsis, and street poetry that could end up censored in official media. On social networks, where the youth hold sway, more and more users are echoing the cry: “Get me out of here, damn it!”.
