The Cuban creator known as @keki_mami celebrated a very special achievement on TikTok: with her first payment received from the platform, she was able to buy a refrigerator, one of the most necessary —and expensive— appliances in present-day Cuba.

"I live in Cuba, and thanks to TikTok, I was finally able to buy myself a refrigerator," the young woman said in the video that quickly went viral. "It's no secret that this is one of the most important appliances in a home. Personally, I was going crazy with fast food and not being able to have even a glass of cold water," she added.

In the video, the young woman shows the moment the new fridge arrives at her home, along with her family, who helped her prepare lunch and celebrate the occasion.

"It was crazy; my love took a bottle of yogurt and added it to our food, but the important thing is that the most awaited fridge in history is finally here," she recounted, laughing.

The Cuban woman thanked her followers on TikTok and Instagram for the support that allowed her to achieve this goal: “This platform has definitely marked a before and after in my life. I give thanks to God and to each person who has given me that unconditional support.”

In a country where the prices of appliances soar in the informal market and salaries barely cover basic food needs, the gesture of @keki_mami reflects how many Cubans are seeking new economic alternatives on social media, navigating the limitations of the system.

"We connected at midnight, after eight hours of waiting. I was filled with excitement," concluded the young woman, who ended her post with a message of gratitude and optimism for her digital community.

“Thank God, TikTok, and my followers, today I have my fridge. It's a dream come true,” she wrote.
