It was the last night of the year, and in a Cuban house, "Vivir lo nuestro", the classic by Marc Anthony and La India that encourages believing in eternal love, was playing. Amid laughter, colorful lights, and impromptu toasts, a family was getting ready to bid farewell to 2025 with the best energy, but the UNE decided to make its star appearance.
The video, shared by content creator @princesadorada15 on TikTok, captures the exact moment when music, joy, and light vanish simultaneously. Suddenly, everything goes dark, but no one complains: the laughter echoes louder than the silence of the blackout.
While the Electric Union boasted on social media that all of Cuba would greet the new year with stable electricity service, this family was inadvertently proving the opposite.
His video went viral, not only because of the blackout, but also because it perfectly captures the Cuban spirit: laughing in the face of chaos, singing in the dark, and continuing to dance, even when the UNE decides when the party ends.
