The Cuban truck driver Ricardo Barrera Pauli, known as @elrickytampa on social media, surprised his followers this week by revealing that he found an ingenious way to continue working after losing his commercial driver's license (CDL) in Florida.

In a new video, he appears driving a tow truck and humorously explained: “For those who ask, the truck does not require a CDL.”

"We're active 24/7 in the Tampa and Brandon area. Thank you for everything, my people, a thousand blessings," he wrote on Instagram, proudly showcasing his new endeavor. "What bothers you, that I'm a young fighter and entrepreneur?" he added with a smile, making it clear that he doesn't intend to give up.

The announcement comes just a few days after the viral video in which he appeared visibly affected by the suspension of his CDL.

That message moved thousands of people by expressing their frustration: "What do I have to do to feel like a human being? My life depends on laws that are made by powerful men."

Ricardo then recounted that he found out about the suspension while renewing his license at the tax collection office and that the news left him without a job overnight.

His testimony surpassed one million views and generated a wave of support among Cuban truckers in the United States who encouraged him to persevere.

Far from giving up, the Cuban has learned to reinvent himself and continue to earn a living for his family with effort and optimism.
