A group of neighbors in the Havana municipality of Guanabacoa apprehended an alleged thief who was caught attempting to steal animals from a farm during a blackout.

The incident was shared in the group Facebook Everything for Sale in Guanabacoa by user Juana Hidalgo Gatto, who posted a video showing the moment of the arrest.

"Right now we caught him. He thought he was going to get away with it on my property," the woman can be heard saying, as she shows the suspected thief sitting on the ground with his hands tied.

In the images, taken at night, the man — visibly nervous — claims that he "doesn't steal from anyone," although the complainant insists that he was caught in her yard attempting to take a ram.

"I wanted to take a little lamb, but thanks to the Sector Chief, whom I called quickly, he came and I was able to catch it," Hidalgo Gatto added.

The incident reportedly occurred during a blackout in the area known as Debeche Nalón, in the early hours of January 18. Neighbors praised the swift actions of the woman and the police officer, although some users cautioned about the risks of directly confronting suspected criminals.

The video has accumulated thousands of views and comments on Facebook, amidst a growing wave of neighborhood reports of thefts in rural and semi-urban areas of Havana, especially during nighttime blackouts.
