A group of renowned Cuban comedians has ignited a frenzy on social media with a parody of the iconic song We Are the World, reimagined in Spanish as “Donald Trump, take Canel away”.

The video, presented by journalist Mario J. Pentón, mocks the unity of Cubans on this musical topic and makes a satirical call for something similar to what recently happened in Venezuela with the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

Among the participating artists are Javier Díaz, La Crema (Luis Alberto Vicet), Facundo from Vivir del cuento (Andy Vázquez), Boncó Quiñongo (Conrado Cogle), Oscar el Teacher (Óscar E. Lago), Uchii3.3 (Josué Valdés), Hugo Reyes Show (Hugo Reyes), Alfredito Locura (Alfredo Rondón Vázquez), and Mayiyi (Rogelio Peral).

With a humorous tone, the comedians blend political criticism and music, reflecting the popular discontent with the regime of Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The piece has gone viral among Cubans both on the island and abroad. The music video has garnered over 56,000 likes on Facebook, thousands of views on other social media platforms, and comments that celebrate the bravery of using humor as a tool for protest and hope.
