In recent days, a tense moment has gone viral on social media when a helicopter was nearly involved in a crash at Miami Airport last week.
The helicopter was close to ending in the worst possible way after executing several maneuvers that created moments of high tension among the workers and passengers present at the site.
The video of the incident was shared on social media by journalist Yusnaby Pérez, who described the moment as "intensely tense" and confirmed that, despite the risk, the pilot managed to avert a catastrophe.
"Moments of intense tension at Miami airport when a helicopter nearly crashed after multiple failed maneuvers. Fortunately, it avoided disaster.”, Pérez wrote while sharing the images on Instagram.
In the video, a helicopter - identified by several users as a Robinson R44 model - can be seen making erratic movements, with unexpected turns and an alarming descending trajectory, leading one to think at times of an imminent collision.
Despite everything, the pilot manages to regain control at the last moment and avoids crashing.
According to a knowledgeable internet user, “that R44 was well controlled in autorotation by the pilot”; “autorotation,” added another, suggesting that the pilot had executed a well-performed emergency maneuver to avoid the accident.
Witnesses in shock: “It was awful to see it live.”
The reactions came quickly. Dozens of people commented on the original post, sharing their experiences from different areas of the airport.
“It was very intense to see it live… I even ran away… thank God nothing happened”; “I was at the airport because I work there and we saw everything. It was very ugly, but it had a good pilot who lifted it up and executed a perfect maneuver. But it was born today, believe me… seeing it right in front of you is terrifying”; “the one who recorded it was a cargo guy; my security colleague was filming, but she ran away because it was coming down fast and panicked; she says it was very ugly, thank God nothing happened,” were some of the comments.
Among the more technical opinions, a critical voice was raised against the helicopter model:
"The Robinson helicopters have a very poor track record in terms of both incidents and accidents. I would dare to say that it has become a manufacturer of widows."
Beyond the viral anecdote, what happened at the airport was an extreme experience for many of those present. Several witnesses agreed that the scare was so intense that they thought the helicopter would crash immediately.
