The Cuban comedian Otto Ortiz publicly bid farewell to Alfredito Rodríguez with a message full of emotion and gratitude, in which he remembered not just the artist, but the generous and respectful man who made an impact on those who worked alongside him.

For Ortiz, the loss goes beyond a public figure: a friend and a human reference has departed.

In his post on Facebook, he emphasized how Alfredo viewed artistic work as a space of freedom and trust.

"I was fortunate to work with him on two programs from Cuban television, 'En Familia con Alfredo' and 'Su noche con Alfredo,' and best of all, live shows," he said.

He remembered that, even as the central figure, Alfredito never exerted control over the others: "He never asked what they were going to do or say; he respected the artist or guest too much to limit their judgment."

For Ortiz, that attitude defined his professional and human greatness. He was not a host seeking the spotlight, but rather someone who made everyone sharing the stage with him feel comfortable. This ethic was an essential part of the success of those highly followed television programs in Cuba for years.

The actor also recalled an experience outside the television studios that revealed the singer's social commitment.

Both were part of a cultural brigade that visited areas affected by a hurricane in Pinar del Río. During those visits, he explained, the affection of the fans was evident.

"Wherever we went, he was the most popular with the audience," he stated.

The message concludes with a simple and direct farewell that encapsulates the feelings of many: "Today we have lost a great one, both as an artist and as a human being. Rest in peace, brother."

Otto Ortiz's words join a flood of messages following the announcement of Alfredo Rodríguez's death at the age of 74 in the United States, where he had been living for many years.

The artist's family confirmed his passing with a statement expressing: "He leaves behind an immense legacy and an indelible mark on the lives of those who admired and loved him."

Since the news broke, colleagues, friends, and fans have highlighted not only Alfredo's musical career but also his human qualities.

Her great friend, the singer Mirtha Medina, with whom she formed some of the most popular duets of the 80s, reacted with deep sorrow to her death.

"I didn’t even know he was sick. This news has left me in shock," she stated.

Alfredo Rodríguez was a central figure in Cuban music and entertainment for decades. His career left a mark both inside and outside the Island, and his name is associated with a golden era for many audiences who grew up with his songs and shows.

Otto Ortiz's testimony adds an intimate dimension to that legacy: that of a coworker who trusted, who did not judge, and who understood art as a space of mutual respect.

In his words, there is not only nostalgia but also gratitude for having shared a journey with someone who, as he puts it, was "great, both as an artist and as a human being."
