Cuban content creator Kleydis Rivas Chong (@kleydis_chong) shared a video on her social media that depicts the daily impact of blackouts on the island, but her perspective on this issue sparked a heated debate online.

The young woman recounted that after traveling to Cuba from abroad, upon arriving at her building, there was no electricity and she had to climb seven floors with her luggage because the elevator was not working.

"In Cuba, power outages last not just one hour, but 8, 10, 12, and even 14 hours. This is how we eat, this is how we survive. While everything is dark, life goes on, against all odds," he stated.

His video generates hundreds of reactions and an intense debate among Cubans both inside and outside the country. Many users agreed that what Kleydis described is “not a bad day, but the daily reality of Cubans,” while others lamented the normalization of suffering.

The influencer Alex Otaola commented on the video: "Why are you going?" he said. These words triggered a reaction from others who defend the right to travel to Cuba to meet with family, despite the crisis in the country.

There were also harsh comments directed at both the regime for the blackouts and at those who normalize the crisis.

"I don't know who is still defending this government; this is not living," wrote an internet user, reflecting societal frustration regarding the energy situation in the country.

In the current circumstances, many are wondering if it is worth traveling to Cuba.
