The dengue case involves a 50-year-old man residing in the city of Río Tercero, who had recently traveled to Mexico and did not have a vaccination schedule against the disease.

On the other hand, the case of chikungunya was recorded in a 47-year-old woman from the Monte Cristo area, with a travel history to Cuba, where this disease has caused serious damage.

The health authorities reported that both patients received outpatient care and that the necessary actions for focus control were carried out in collaboration with the involved municipalities.

In addition, a second suspected case of chikungunya in the city of Córdoba is under investigation, awaiting results from the Malbrán Institute. As a precaution, control measures have already been implemented in the area.

During a new follow-up meeting on mosquito-borne diseases, health authorities emphasized the importance of maintaining prevention measures, especially at this time of year, characterized by high temperatures and increased humidity, conditions that promote the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

The main recommendations focus on eliminating breeding sites in homes and surroundings, such as containers that collect water, keeping patios and gardens clean and free of weeds, cleaning animal water troughs daily and maintaining storm drains, and filling vases with moist sand.

It was also emphasized to take extra precautions when traveling to tropical areas or regions with dengue, zika, and chikungunya circulation, using repellent and protective measures to avoid bites.

From the health department, they reminded that in the presence of symptoms such as fever, muscle or joint pain, and headache, it is essential to visit the nearest health center.

The health department reiterated that the vaccination campaign against dengue continues for individuals aged 15 to 59 residing in the 13 prioritized departments of the province: Capital, Colón, General San Martín, Marcos Juárez, Punilla, Río Cuarto, Río Segundo, San Alberto, San Javier, San Justo, Santa María, Tercero Arriba, and Unión.

Vaccination consists of a two-dose schedule, with an interval of three months between each dose, and is available at provincial hospitals and municipal health centers.
