Sandro Castro is at the center of controversy after posting a video on his social media showing him walking through a market in the Havana neighborhood of San Agustín.
In the images, the young man appears restless, mocking, and unaware of the reality surrounding him. He sarcastically claims that "there's everything inside and outside La Cuevita 2."
The phrase was interpreted by most Cubans as a cruel mockery in the midst of the scarcity suffocating the country.
Sandro can be seen walking through the market stalls, greeting some vendors and joining a line to buy bread, though he eventually leaves without making a purchase.
During the tour, he stops in front of a produce stand and confuses a malanga with a boniato, eliciting laughter due to his ignorance.
"This one can't tell a malanga from a sweet potato," wrote an outraged user. There were also those who demanded a gesture of empathy: "Buy something and help the people," "Help your neighbor, kid, please buy something."
However, what Sandro was trying to show is that he is not afraid to walk the streets of Havana, and he even made some unsuccessful attempts to be funny and popular.
"In San Agustín and without security, tell Díaz-Canel to do that," said one of his fans in the post.
Despite having admirers, most users agree that his immature behavior demonstrates the disdain of the descendants of Fidel and Raúl Castro towards the Cuban people, who are struggling to survive amidst blackouts, endless queues, and a lack of food.
Sandro's comment coincided with the statements of Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, who that same Sunday delivered a message to the Cubans.
There are reserves to face the challenges of 2026. The Government Program is the roadmap. Now it is time to turn each effort into results,” he said on his official X account.
The words of the Prime Minister and Sandro's attitude were a double provocation because, as many users reminded, "in Cuba, there are only reserves in the homes of the Castros and the leaders."
