The Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, defended on Wednesday the border security policy of the U.S. government and stated that the wall on the border with Mexico "is already built," describing it as "a huge and beautiful wall."

During a press conference held in Nogales, Arizona, Noem emphasized that the construction of the wall is part of a broader strategy to strengthen border control and ensure safety in border communities, reported Univisión.

The official emphasized that the project includes not only physical barriers but also technology and constant patrolling.

“She told the American people that we needed a wall, and we have it: a huge and beautiful wall,” Noem stated, referring to the commitment made by President Donald Trump regarding border security.

The secretary was accompanied by senior officials from the Department of Homeland Security and by the head of the Border Patrol, Michael Banks, who stated that the work will continue along the entire border and will be supported by technological and operational surveillance systems.

Noem also stated that the situation at the border has improved and defended the tightening of immigration policies as a necessary measure to protect local communities and enforce the law.

The visit comes amid a context of increased federal pressure on immigration matters and following recent government decisions to expand detention capacity and bolster the presence of federal agencies in border states.

With her statements, Noem reaffirms the hardline stance of the U.S. government on border security and consolidates the wall as one of the main symbols of its immigration strategy.
