The authorities of Ómnibus Nacionales in Las Tunas announced the suspension of all interprovincial departures starting this Friday, February 6, due to the worsening fuel crisis affecting the country.

According to Tiempo21Cuba, the provincial station's Facebook page, the measure affects travel to Camagüey, Holguín, and Santiago de Cuba, during both morning and afternoon schedules.

Only the express service to Havana at 9:00 PM will continue, while the alternate route to Matanzas has also been suspended, reported Reynaldo Reyes Silva, delegate of the Minister of Transportation in the province.

Reyes Silva indicated that new measures related to national passenger transportation, especially in the rail service, which is also facing limitations due to a lack of diesel, could be announced in the coming days.

The suspension of interprovincial travel in Las Tunas reflects the profound deterioration of the transportation system due to a shortage of fuel, which in recent weeks has paralyzed basic services in various provinces across the country.

In recent days, the University of Havana announced a temporary shift to a hybrid model for 30 days and the postponement of the University Congress 2026 due to the energy deficit.

In Camagüey, internal sources reported the suspension of gasoline transportation and sales, as well as adjustments to teaching schedules and cultural activities.

Meanwhile, the University of Holguín has reportedly sent scholarship students home and halted classes until March, also as a direct consequence of the lack of energy and fuel.

The energy crisis, acknowledged by Miguel Díaz-Canel in his televised appearance, is already spreading to several sectors of the country and threatens to further paralyze the daily lives of Cubans.
