A strong cacophony of pots and pans echoed this Thursday in the Havana municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, specifically in the Mantilla Popular Council, in the south of the capital, as a direct response to the recent speech by the leader Miguel Díaz-Canel, delivered amidst a deep economic and energy crisis affecting the country.

A citizen report, shared by various profiles on social media, shows how residents from several neighborhoods took to the streets protesting by banging pots and pans late at night, while large areas remained without electric service.

The protest spread across different areas of the municipality, highlighting popular discontent regarding power outages, shortages, and the lack of concrete responses from the regime.

The testimonies agree that the demonstration took place peacefully, albeit with significant participation, reflecting the accumulated frustration of the people.

This casserole protest in Arroyo Naranjo adds to other cases reported recently in various provinces across the country, where prolonged blackouts and the economic and fuel crisis continue to fuel social discontent in Cuba.
