The Cuban regime announces a special program to explain new measures in response to the fuel crisis

The official program Mesa Redonda announced a special broadcast this Friday to inform about the measures that the country will adopt in response to the “current situation,” amid what the regime describes as an “intensification of U.S. aggression against Cuba.”

According to the call, the vice prime minister Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga and the ministers of Labor, Transportation, Higher Education, and Education will be present at the event.

According to the post shared on social media, the broadcast is scheduled for this afternoon and is presented as an informative report aimed at explaining the official actions regarding the energy situation, without providing specific details about what those measures will be.

The announcement notes that officials will attend the program to "report on the measures" being adopted, linking them to the state response to external pressures, particularly from the United States.

This Thursday, Miguel Díaz-Canel confirmed what millions of Cubans are already experiencing daily: the country has reverted to the harsh years of the Special Period.

During an extensive address, the leader acknowledged that since December 2025, no oil has been arriving on the island from Venezuela and that the dictatorship is facing a deep energy crisis, with no immediate solutions or external allies.

Díaz-Canel explained that the situation "cannot be resolved overnight" and that the Council of Ministers has approved a set of directives to address the acute fuel shortage.

After their appearance, several provinces suspended national bus departures and universities restructured their class schedules.

Granma, the provinces of Las Tunas, Camagüey, and Holguín have also experienced the suspension of their interprovincial transport services due to the energy crisis. This impacts the mobility of Cubans, who rely on these services for their daily activities.
