The Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that "there will always be solutions to problems, no matter how complex the situation may be," referring to a package of immediate measures approved by the Government to address the fuel shortages in Cuba, in a context that the authorities attribute to an "energy blockade" by the United States.
The statement was released during an extraordinary session in which decisions aimed at electricity generation, transportation, and other prioritized sectors were presented.
According to the material, the actions include measures to address the fuel shortage both in electricity generation and transportation, in addition to promoting (“stimulating”) construction projects for photovoltaic solar parks and other renewable energy sources.
The package also encompasses areas deemed strategic, such as local food production, water supply, transportation, and the assurance of basic health and education services.
In the session, Díaz-Canel stated that the Government presented "a set of measures" that had already been in development and that the level of preparation achieved—according to his assessment—was taken "with responsibility" and with "intelligence and creativity," which, he claimed, "instills confidence."
In that context, he remarked: "Life has shown us... that there will always be solutions to our problems."
The leader also emphasized how —according to him— the country's direction and the people have confronted the situation, and he mentioned the support received from business owners, entities, and countries that, he stated, are willing to work with Cuba "despite the pressures."
In his words, the “morality,” “decision,” “courage,” “realism,” “objectivity,” and “optimism” with which he faces the situation would have generated “confidence, admiration, and support” for Cuba “from many people around the world.”
In the same exchange, Díaz-Canel emphasized the importance of systematic and accurate communication to convey information to the public.
The material indicates that not only were the approved measures discussed, but also the results of their implementation.
As part of the communication strategy, the text notes that the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee, Roberto Morales Ojeda, explained actions that political and mass organizations, media outlets, and institutions would undertake to support the dissemination of the decisions made.
