The blackouts forced the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A. to cut services and modify its support for the population across the country as part of the measures adopted in response to the complex energy situation.

According to the official newspaper Sierra Maestra, from Santiago de Cuba, via Facebook, ETECSA explained that the adjustments aim to maintain communication under exceptional conditions and prioritize basic user support.

The company stated that, although the commercial offices will remain open during their usual hours, during power outages only reception services and the management of incidents, complaints, and claims will be guaranteed, while procedures that require computer systems or connectivity will be suspended.

ETECSA stated that these measures aim to maintain an operational communication channel despite energy challenges, prioritizing listening to the population and recording their concerns.

Regarding telephone assistance, the entity specified that some lines will operate with reduced hours to optimize resources, while others will remain available 24 hours a day, depending on the type of service they provide.

These measures by the telecommunications monopoly in Cuba are in addition to others that the regime has been forced to take due to the current energy crisis the country is experiencing.

Cuba woke up this Monday practically without visible commercial air traffic in its airspace, in a striking image that starkly illustrates the severity of the fuel crisis the country is facing.

For example, health sector officials in Matanzas announced a set of urgent measures to sustain medical assistance amid the energy crisis and the fuel shortage, with adjustments affecting staff transportation, outpatient consultations, hospitalizations, and care for patients requiring special services, as reported by the official newspaper Girón.

Flightradar24 data shows that in the early hours of the day, only one commercial flight was recorded departing from the island, CMP245 from Copa Airlines, heading to Panama City.
