The Cuban singer Randy Malcom once again raised his voice for the freedom of Cuba with a powerful message posted on his Instagram account, where he reflected on the main issues afflicting the island under the dictatorship.

“It is time to see what is happening in Cuba and the critical situation that Cubans are living through,” wrote the member of Gente de Zona alongside several images that depict economic hardship, the energy crisis, and repression against activists and opponents.

The artist denounced the misery faced by many families on the island, some forced to scavenge for food in the trash to survive. He also referred to the prolonged blackouts that leave entire neighborhoods in darkness, amidst an energy crisis that severely impacts the population.

"Until when are you going to keep chasing young people who are just speaking the truth? Until when are you going to suffocate the people of Cuba with so much misery?" he questioned in his message.

Randy Malcom also stated that the only "embargo" that exists is the one that the regime itself has imposed on the dignity and freedom of Cubans, clearly criticizing the official narrative that blames external factors for the crisis.

In his post, he also demanded the release of political prisoners, mentioning the youths from El 4tico, as well as artists Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara and Maykel Osorbo, who were imprisoned due to their activism and opposition to the system.

The message concluded with a slogan that has become a symbol of resistance both inside and outside the island: “Homeland and Life!”.

The musician's statements add to those of other public figures who have denounced the decline in living conditions in Cuba and have called for deep changes in light of the political, economic, and social crisis the country is facing.
