LATAM Airlines Peru has joined the list of airlines that have canceled flights to Cuba due to the lack of fuel at José Martí International Airport in Havana, amid the deep energy crisis affecting the island.
According to the specialized portal Aviacionline, the company suspended its regular operations between Lima and Havana starting February 14, 2026, following a complete interruption of fuel supply at the Cuban terminal, which prevents the normal refueling of aircraft.
The airline will maintain only a limited flight schedule from Havana to Lima until March 7, aimed at facilitating the repatriation of passengers currently on the island.
After that date, the route will be deactivated for an indefinite period until operational conditions are restored.
LATAM operated three weekly flights between both capitals. As alternatives, it offered affected passengers a full refund of the ticket price, including additional services, or the option to change their destination at no charge to Cancun or Punta Cana, provided that the trip is completed before June 30, 2026, and there is availability.
The decision comes in a context where other airlines have adjusted or suspended operations to Cuba.
Some companies continue to fly without refueling on the island, such as Mexican airlines, or making technical stops, while Russian airlines have limited their flights to repatriation operations for thousands of tourists.
The fuel crisis, which has worsened in recent weeks, has impacted not only air transport but also tourism and other key sectors of the Cuban economy, deepening the country's isolation and difficulties in international connectivity.
