A day of solidarity took place in various areas of Santiago de Cuba, where young people from the San Juan Methodist Church distributed food and clothing to individuals in vulnerable situations, amid the severe economic and social crisis facing the country.
Pastor Darlon Bermúdez reported on Facebook that the young people split into two groups to explore different parts of the city. During the initiative, they provided food for 127 people, offered warmth to 27 in the cold, and also prayed for the sick, in addition to sharing the Christian message.
The post was accompanied by images showing the young people distributing food and clothing with enthusiasm and joy, reflecting both their youth and the satisfaction that comes from helping those in greatest need.
The action takes on particular significance in a context marked by food scarcity, prolonged blackouts, lack of fuel, and the deterioration of basic services, a situation that strikes hardest at the most disadvantaged sectors and those lacking support networks.
In the midst of this situation, community and religious initiatives like this one aim to alleviate, even if only temporarily, the hardships faced by numerous families in Santiago.
Recientemente, el pastor Darlon Bermúdez realizó en Santiago de Cuba una solidarity day of medical care and medication delivery que puso en evidencia el papel crucial de las iglesias en medio de la profunda crisis sanitaria que atraviesa el país.
