A young Cuban woman reported on social media that her grandfather died after not receiving the medical treatment he needed in a hospital on the Island.

“ My grandfather did not die just from his illness. He died waiting for something as essential as medicine,” wrote Yudy Rosello in a post that she accompanied with a video recorded hours after the burial.

According to his testimony, the elderly man suffered from chikungunya and subsequently developed bacterial bronchopneumonia. He claims that, although this condition can be treated with antibiotics anywhere in the world, they could not find the necessary medications in Cuba.

The young woman recounted that for days they were unable to transfer him to the hospital due to a lack of resources, and when he was finally admitted in critical condition, there were no beds available or suitable conditions to care for him. "They barely attended to him. They left him in the same place where they put him," she stated. The man passed away shortly thereafter.

In her message, the young woman held the system responsible for the shortage of medications, the lack of medical supplies, and the deterioration of hospitals. “There is no food, there are no medicines, there is nothing. Children are dying of hunger and diseases,” she expressed, in a speech marked by pain and indignation.

Beyond the political denunciation, her video reflects a reality that thousands of Cuban families describe daily: hospitals lacking resources, antibiotics that are hard to obtain, and patients relying on donations or the informal market to access basic treatments.

"Cuba is being killed", he said in his call for unity, while insisting that he will continue to denounce what he considers injustices against the Cuban people.

The testimony has generated reactions on social media, where numerous users shared similar experiences related to the shortage of medications and the difficulties in receiving medical attention at hospitals across the country.

In the midst of a deep economic and health crisis, stories like this once again bring a human face to an issue that, beyond numbers and official speeches, translates into irreparable losses for many Cuban families.
