Insecurity in the Cuban countryside reached a new worrying level this week when a 70-year-old cattle farmer was the victim of an attempted robbery on his property.

Mileydi Barrionuevo Robainas, known on Instagram as "Mother Without Filters in Cuba," reported the incident that directly impacted her grandfather and his animals, the result of years of hard work and sacrifice.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning.

"They tried to take away what sustains her animals, which she cares for so dearly and with such sacrifice. That wasn't enough; it seemed they attempted to poison the dogs with a piece of meat laced with poison," she said.

"And to make matters worse, when my grandfather went out to the yard, they started throwing stones at him. Thank God it didn't escalate, because the neighbors came out to help when they heard the commotion," he detailed.

Mileydi's video reveals the violence and lack of control in the area.

It points out that scarcity is prevalent, but that does not give anyone the right to profit from another person's sacrifice, let alone endanger their life.

"Thank God they didn't hit him, but they threw stones at him. It seems that the lives of two animals are worth more than that of a person. How far are we going to go as human beings?" he questioned.

According to the complainant, thefts on her grandfather's farm are not uncommon. "They have already stolen more than eight animals, and no one is doing anything."

The young woman made it clear that the apathy of the authorities and the limited police presence in rural areas worsen the situation, discouraging farmers and ranchers, who see their work becoming a constant target for theft and attacks.

The economic crisis in the country has led to a significant increase in crimes, particularly theft, and has created an atmosphere of insecurity that impacts small producers and rural families.

The situation highlights not only the vulnerability of those living in rural areas but also the lack of effective policies to protect them and ensure the safety of citizens.

In this context, Cubans face the daily dilemma of protecting their assets in a system where impunity and institutional inefficiency prevail.

Mileydi concludes her message with a call to reflection: violence should not be the answer to scarcity, and respect for the life and work of others remains an essential principle, albeit increasingly fragile each day.
