A man of Cuban nationality shot his partner and mother-in-law, causing their deaths, and then took his own life with the same weapon in a tragic incident that shocked a community this week in the state of Guanajuato, in central Mexico.
The events took place on February 19 in a house located in the Cerro Blanco area, within the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo, as reported by the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) to local news outlets.
The victims have been identified as María “N” and Lucía “N”, mother and daughter, while the aggressor has been identified as Randy “N”, 44 years old, who was the partner of the latter. Authorities have not disclosed the nationality of the murdered women.
According to the official version, during an argument with his spouse, Randy shot her multiple times, and then also shot at his mother-in-law.
After the violent attack, the man left the house and entered a neighboring property, where he allegedly committed suicide with the same firearm, according to preliminary reports.
The Emergency Center 911 received a report of a shooting in the area, and agents from the Municipal Police of Dolores Hidalgo, along with paramedics, responded to the scene, where they found three individuals with gunshot wounds.
Rescue workers confirmed the death of one of the women and the man. The second victim, the assailant’s mother-in-law, was still alive but had serious injuries, so she was urgently transported to a hospital, where she later died.
The reasons behind the murder-suicide remain unknown. "This is a regrettable incident," stated the Prosecutor's Office. The case is still under investigation.
