The arrest of the alleged perpetrator of the murder of a 27-year-old man in Contramaestre has once again highlighted the rise in violent incidents in various parts of Cuba, amid citizens' demands for justice and greater safety.

According to a post on the Facebook profile “Héroes del Moncada”, linked to the Minint, the incident occurred recently in the Rosabal neighborhood, in the Santiago municipality of Contramaestre, during a festive event at a recreational center.

According to the report, a 27-year-old man named José Luis Enamorado lost his life due to a knife attack, while 25-year-old Marino García was seriously injured and was taken to the Orlando Pantoja Tamayo hospital.

The statement specified that the "alleged perpetrator of the incident, identified as Adam, was captured" and has been made available to the courts for the appropriate legal process.

The news generated numerous reactions on social media. Several internet users demanded that all those involved be severely punished. "Everyone involved should pay; what they did left a family shattered," wrote one user. Another commented: "They should face the full force of the law. All those who were involved in this act of violence and murder, and we're not talking about just a couple of years; we’re talking about life sentences."

Some comments went further and called for the application of the death penalty. "As long as the government does not implement the death penalty, the murders will continue," opined another individual.

There were also messages of condolences and sorrow for the victim. “My condolences to their family,” expressed one user. Others recalled previous unresolved cases in the municipality and questioned the institutional response to past crimes.

The case in Contramaestre adds to other violent incidents reported in recent weeks. In Central Havana, two men were killed in broad daylight on Águila Street, between Reina and Estrella, in an event that was captured on video. In the footage circulated on social media, one can hear: “They just murdered him,” followed by: “They are beating the murderer. They just killed him. They killed him. They killed the one who murdered.”

In El Cobre, Santiago de Cuba, details have emerged regarding the murder of Eduardo Ortiz, known as “Kañín”. According to circulating testimony, the attacker returned armed after an argument and “stabbed him in the collarbone and another in the side.” The victim later died from his injuries.

Also in Santiago de Cuba, three men were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a motorcyclist, to whom they inflicted around 27 wounds to steal his vehicle.

In January, the body of a man was found inside the toilet pit of his home in the rural town of Sevilla, after several days of being missing. The case is still under investigation.

Similarly, the Provincial Court of Santiago de Cuba sentenced those responsible for the murder of a custodian that occurred in 2024 during a robbery attempt to prison terms of between 28 and 30 years.

Although there are no updated public statistics on crime, the recurrence of violent incidents in various areas has raised concerns among citizens who express fear and outrage on social media.
