Dariel Fernández: "There is no dialogue with Cuba, only the end of the regime."

The Miami-Dade County tax collector, Dariel Fernández, visited opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer during his fasting days to show solidarity with the cause of political prisoners in Cuba.

“His sacrifice represents the pain, resilience, and hope of a people who deserve freedom. For the United States of America, the issue of Cuba is not foreign policy; it is a matter of national security,” said Fernández about Ferrer on X.

"The communist and socialist dictatorship has destroyed the freedom of every Cuban and devastated our homeland. As the Tax Collector for Miami-Dade County, I will continue to raise my voice alongside our community. The freedom of Cuba is closer every day," he added.

In a conversation with Ferrer, the tax collector stated that a decisive moment is at hand.

"We're not talking about dialogue; what we're discussing is the day and the hour that these murderers, Castro-communists, and drug traffickers have to leave that island," he said, acknowledging Marco Rubio's role in a possible transition.

Fernández has been a critic of commercial licenses associated with operations involving the Cuban regime and announced in January that he would notify President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the national security risks that he claimed pose a threat to the community in South Florida.

Ferrer, for his part, has been on a three-day hunger strike since last Thursday in solidarity with political prisoner Roilán Álvarez, who is fasting in a penitentiary in Holguín.
