The president of the Popular Party (PP) in Spain, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, held a telephone conversation this Monday with the Secretary of State of the United States, Marco Rubio, where they discussed key issues on the international agenda and the bilateral relations between both countries.

Through a message posted on the social network X, Feijóo described the exchange as "a fruitful conversation" and emphasized that they discussed "the bilateral relations of our countries, NATO, Latin America, and Ukraine, among many other topics."

"My commitment: for Spain to be a reliable partner for our allies," stated the leader of the PP in his post.

The conversation takes place in an international context marked by the war in Ukraine, the strengthening of NATO, and the redefinition of strategic alliances between Europe and the United States.

Rubio, the current head of U.S. diplomacy, has advocated for a foreign policy focused on strengthening cooperation with traditional allies and containing the influence of Russia and China in various regions.

Feijóo, president of the PP since 2022 and leader of the opposition in Spain, has reiterated on several occasions the importance of consolidating the transatlantic relationship and maintaining a firm stance in defense of European security.

The exchange with Rubio strengthens Feijóo's international profile at a time when the debate on Spain's role in NATO, support for Ukraine, and policy towards Latin America are central to the European political agenda.
