A Cuban resident in Miami has captured attention on TikTok after sharing a peculiar habit that, she claims, she has maintained for 14 and a half years, ever since the day she "became a saint."

In a video posted on her account, the woman explained that since then she cannot be without stockings, a practice that has become an inseparable part of her daily routine.

"Hello, good morning, loves. A quick question, blessings to everyone. Well, I'm here in the city of Miami, I started working early today, as I promised you today, but I have a little doubt that I want to share with you," she began, while sipping her "mushroom coffee," a drink she claimed to consume frequently.

The Cuban woman stated that since her religious consecration within Santería, she has not been able to take off her stockings at any time. "I haven't been able to take off my stockings for 14 years. Ever since I became a saint, I have never been able to be without stockings again," she explained.

She recounted that the sensation of being barefoot or without stockings feels uncomfortable to her, to the extent that she feels like she is “missing a part” of her body. “If I don’t wear stockings, it feels like I’m missing a part of my body,” she stated.

The woman took the opportunity in the video to ask her followers—especially those who practice Santería—if they have experienced something similar after their religious initiation. “I would like to know if this only happens to me or if any of the santeros who follow me also have this custom that stuck with them,” she commented.

He even revealed that, at times, he has felt the urge to wear stockings just to put on heels, something he acknowledges as a habit that's hard to break after more than a decade.

The video has generated numerous reactions on social media, where users share personal experiences, opinions, and curiosities about practices and habits associated with Afro-Cuban religion.

Santería, widely practiced among the Cuban community both on and off the Island, includes specific rituals and rules following consecration, although each practitioner may develop personal customs related to their spiritual journey.

The anecdote has sparked debate and empathy among followers who identify with habits acquired through religious or spiritual experiences, once again demonstrating the impact of social media as a space for cultural exchange within the Cuban diaspora.
