Cuban YouTuber Camila Carballo showcased in a video the critical situation of pharmacies in Cuba after going out in search of medications.
In the images, Carballo enters a pharmacy where only one pharmacist was sitting behind the counter. As he walks through the establishment, the shelves are observed to be completely empty, with no medications available for over-the-counter sale.
The pharmaceutical company explained that there was only one medication "per card," meaning it was regulated by the state distribution system. There were no other products on the shelves.
The recording highlights the scarcity that Cubans face daily when they need basic treatments. Medicines must be purchased on the informal market, often without clear instructions and at the risk of being expired medications.
In a context marked by a shortage of medical supplies and essential products, scenes like this are repeating across different parts of the country, particularly affecting the elderly, those with chronic illnesses, and families with young children.
