An electrical transformer exploded last Monday next to a house in Cuba, causing a significant scare among residents in the area; however, fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported.
The incident was captured on video by a Cuban woman identified on TikTok as @normasocasmartinez, who shared footage of the moment when an intense flare and sparks rose near a power line pole close to her home.
The video shows how fire and sparks light up the area in front of the house while a column of smoke rises behind the structure, creating a scene that resembled a fire.
According to the author of the publication in the comments of the video, everything happened when the transformer installed on the pole next to her house exploded.
"My love, the transformer that was on the pole next to the house exploded and the wires came loose, causing those sparks. The house didn't catch fire and nothing happened to anyone, we just had a terrible scare. It was last Monday," he wrote.
After the explosion, several electrical wires came loose and began to produce strong sparks, creating moments of great tension among the neighbors who feared that the house would catch fire.
Despite the dramatic nature of the incident, the house did not catch fire and no one was injured.
Such events occur frequently in Cuba due to the deterioration of the national electrical system, an infrastructure that has suffered from a lack of maintenance, overloads, and aging equipment for years.
Transformer explosions and electrical line failures have become increasingly common in neighborhoods across various provinces, where residents report the poor condition of poles, wires, and electrical equipment, as well as the danger they pose to nearby homes.
