The Cuban singer Arlenys Rodríguez Lazo exploded against the regime following the long hours of blackouts in recent days and stated that her daughter's food is "not something to joke about."
“Let’s goooooo, how long will this abuse last… my daughter’s food is not to be played with… the lives of Cubans, damn it… we are human beings, not rats…,” wrote on Facebook Rodríguez, one of the first artists on the island to raise her voice after the recent days of power crisis, receiving support from the Facebook community.
The trans artist Kiriam Gutiérrez commented on the post, referring to the ruling class, that "the children of all of them are very well and happy in their mansions, bars, and small businesses with plants, in their universities in Europe, in the USA; they must be very happy."
“They don’t care about the food, whether it’s for your daughter or for the Cubans who still live on this farm,” he added.
Other internet users thanked Rodríguez Lazo: "Finally, I see an artist raising his voice. And the others act as if nothing is happening. Homeland and Life," one said.
Another expression of the artist's feelings: "It's a literal abuse that little food will go to waste. God have mercy on the Cubans," she emphasized.
Disconnection from the SEN and electrical crisis
La Unión Eléctrica (UNE) announces more blackouts for the weekend, following the near-total collapse of the National Electric System (SEN) last Wednesday, which left much of the country without service.
Friday was a critical day, with a maximum impact from generation capacity deficits reaching 2046 MW at 7:10 PM, a situation that led to protests in areas of Havana and Matanzas.
According to the report from UNE, as of 6:00 am this Saturday, the availability of the SEN was at just 1000 MW against a demand of 2223 MW, resulting in a deficit of 1266 MW and directly impacting millions of users.
For the half-hour period, the impact is estimated at 1250 MW, confirming that the crisis persists even outside of peak consumption times.
The main incidents explaining this deficit are concentrated in breakdowns and maintenance of generating units.
Currently, six units are out of service due to breakdowns at the CTE Mariel, Santa Cruz, Antonio Guiteras, Felton, and Antonio Maceo plants. Additionally, three blocks are under maintenance at the Mariel, Nuevitas, and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes plants.
Meanwhile, additional limitations in thermal generation account for 322 MW out of operation.
This combination keeps the SEN operating at an extremely limited capacity.
Havana experienced a Friday night filled with pot-banging and protests in various locations due to the lack of electricity service.
