The former president Evo Morales accused the president of the United States, Donald Trump, on social media of an alleged drug exportation to Bolivia.
Morales launched a new attack against Washington and Latin American leaders who support U.S. foreign policy. Through a message published on the social network X, he stated that the United States will not invest in Bolivia and, on the contrary, seeks to appropriate its natural resources.
"United States will not invest anything in Bolivia. Trump's empire will take over the Bolivian lithium just as it did with the oil of other countries," wrote the former president.
The coca leader also stated that Washington will not collaborate in the fight against drug trafficking in the Andean country and accused it of having other interests. “Trump is already exporting drugs to Bolivia,” he claimed, without providing evidence to support that accusation.
In the same message, Morales criticized the recent summit held in Miami, where several presidents from the region expressed their support for the U.S. president.
"The show in Miami only served for right-wing presidents, lacking dignity, to applaud Trump enthusiastically," he stated.
The statements from the former leader come after his reappearance in February, in his political stronghold of the Tropics of Cochabamba, following more than a month of absence from public events.
Morales participated in an event in the town of Chimoré, where he was welcomed by his supporters and introduced candidates for the regional and municipal elections scheduled for March 22.
The former president has been in that region since 2024, when the Bolivian Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation against him for an alleged aggravated human trafficking case involving a minor.
Despite an active arrest warrant, Morales remains protected by his supporters in the coca-growing region.
