The Cuban singer Israel Rojas, leader of the officialist duo Buena Fe, confirmed that he is in a romantic relationship with the state journalist Cristina Escobar, whom he referred to as his "current partner" in a video recently posted on his social media.
In the video, which lasts about five minutes, Rojas discusses details of his trip to Madrid and mentions a photograph published by the Cuban journalist known on social media as "Siro Cuartel," taken upon the musical group's arrival in Madrid, where the couple is seen traveling on a train with their luggage and some drink bottles inside a bag.
"My current partner," the musician states when referring to Escobar while discussing the image published by Cuartel.
The confirmation comes after images of both circulated on social media during their stay in Madrid, where the duo Buena Fe held a concert amidst protests from exiled Cubans.
One of the photographs shared on social media shows Rojas and Escobar arriving in the Spanish capital on a flight from the airline World2Fly.
The presence of Buena Fe in Spain has been surrounded by controversy. On March 6th, a Cuban was forcibly removed from a concert by the duo in Madrid after shouting slogans against the Cuban regime and demanding the release of political prisoners.
The incident, recorded on video and shared on social media, sparked reactions among exiled activists, who had previously called for protests against the group's performance.
Buena Fe, composed of Israel Rojas and Yoel Martínez, has faced criticism for years from certain sectors of the Cuban exile community due to their closeness to the government in Havana and their public defense of the political system on the island.
