The staircase of the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre has regained its nighttime illumination following the repair work carried out after the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
The information was shared by the Facebook page of the Archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba, which reported on the restoration of the walls, lamps, and lighting at the entrance to the sanctuary, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the country.
According to the publication, the work is part of the gradual restoration process of the Sanctuary of El Cobre, involving individuals and institutions both within and outside of Cuba.
The sanctuary has seen a decrease in the number of pilgrims visiting in recent months, but its caretakers remain committed to preserving the site with its traditional beauty, in hopes of better times ahead.
The House of the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, regarded as a heritage site for the Cuban people, continues to expand the use of inverters and solar panels to address the impacts on electrical service.
Even though these energy solutions still have a limited scope, they are already contributing to the maintenance of certain services within the religious complex.

One of the elements that had to be restored after suffering severe damage was the stained glass, many of which are already showcasing their beauty.
