Protest in Marianao: pot-banging protest in El Lido reportedly ended with several arrests

Neighbors from the El Lido neighborhood, in the Havana municipality of Marianao, held a saucepan protest on Tuesday night to demand the restoration of electricity service, amid the prolonged power outages affecting the Cuban capital.

According to a post by the artist and activist Saúl Manuel on Facebook, residents of the area spent about an hour banging pots and protesting in the street to demand the lack of electricity.

According to your post, after the protest, electricity service was restored in the area, although later police officers arrived on the scene and arrested at least three people.

"Here at the Lido, Marianao, we are on the street. An hour of banging on pots, they turned on the electricity. Police came to catch people. They managed to take three away," was the message that the source sent to Saúl Manuel.

The incident occurs amidst several consecutive nights of pot-banging and protests in various locations throughout Havana, where citizens have taken to the streets to protest against blackouts and the energy crisis the country is facing.

In recent days, protests have been reported in several municipalities of the capital, reflecting the growing discontent among the population due to prolonged power outages, high temperatures, and the challenges of preserving food.

So far, as is typical of the dictatorship, the authorities of the regime have not provided official information regarding the incident that took place in Marianao or about any possible arrests related to the protest.
