The Cuban activist Anna Sofía Benítez Silvente, known on social media as Anna Bensi, sent a direct message to State Security after reporting that her mother, Caridad "Cary" Silvente, was interrogated for two hours by regime agents, which she described as an attempt at intimidation.
In a video shared on social media after the interrogation, Bensi explained that her mother was summoned and stayed from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at a State Security unit, where —as she recounted— she was pressured and threatened by the officers.
"They clearly called my mom with the aim of intimidating her, pressuring her, destabilizing her. She was in the interrogation for two hours," the activist stated.
Bensi claimed that his mother was accused of exposing a State Security agent and that the authorities warned that if anything happened to the officer's family, she would be held responsible.
The activist also reported that the authorities informed her mother that she must appear again in five days accompanied by a lawyer and that she supposedly faces measures such as house arrest and a travel ban while a criminal process, which the officials stated could last for years, unfolds.
"If anything happens to my mom or me, the blame will be on you," Bensi declared, addressing the State Security directly.
During the message, the opposition member also questioned the legality of the citation given to her mother, asserting that it was poorly drafted and did not specify the reason for the interrogation.
"You can imprison, you can kill people, but you cannot imprison ideas," stated Bensi, who concluded his message with slogans against the Cuban regime and in favor of the freedom of political prisoners and the country.
The United States Embassy in Cuba demanded that the Cuban regime stop intimidating the young content creator Anna Bensi and her mother, Caridad "Cary" Silvente, following the police interrogation and legal threats they are facing in Havana.
In a message shared on the social network X, the U.S. diplomatic representation directly questioned the actions of the Cuban authorities against both women.
