Sandro Castro, grandson of the late Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, reacted on social media to the Cuban government's announcement regarding the release of 51 prisoners in the coming days, expressing his hope that "there will be many more."

In a video posted on his platforms, the young influencer took a piece of paper with the number 51 written on it, referencing the figure announced by the authorities, and announced a symbolic gesture.

“I’m going to take this paper now, make it into a rocket, and set it free. I hope there are many more,” Castro expressed in the recording.

He also placed the number 51 with a emoji of the Cuban flag and another of fire on his profile picture on Instagram.

The comment arises after the Cuban chancellor Bruno Rodríguez announced that the government will release 51 individuals sentenced to prison, a decision that the authorities linked to the relations between Cuba and the Vatican and to the approach of Holy Week.

During his message, Sandro Castro also sent words of support to his followers amidst the blackouts and the severe crisis that the population is experiencing.

"I wish everyone the greatest blessings, peace, and love during these challenging times," he said, before asking his followers to stay "tuned for his upcoming posts."

The young man has announced that he will make an important announcement on his profiles this Saturday, which has generated great anticipation regarding the changes expected in Cuba and Castro's proximity to the circle of power on the island.

So far, the Cuban government has not specified whether political prisoners will be among those released, a demand that human rights organizations and international politicians have repeatedly reiterated.
