A group aligned with the Cuban regime in Ireland spread misinformation by falsely accusing several independent media outlets, including CiberCuba, of receiving funding from the United States and being part of a supposed "media war" against Cuba.
The organization Ireland Cuba Support Group published this statement on the social network X, where it asserted that "the media war against Cuba is in full swing" and urged users not to fall "into the trap of spreading their misinformation," a defamation echoed by Carlos Cossio on X, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In their message, the group asserted without providing evidence that several media outlets would be funded by the United States and spreading false information about the reality in Cuba.
"Here are some of the U.S.-funded media outlets that are currently spreading false information," the publication noted.
Among the mentioned media are CiberCuba and Cubanet, which the group described as "the most well-known" and claimed that "they are controlled from Miami," a false accusation that CiberCuba has publicly denied.
The post was accompanied by an image featuring logos of various independent media outlets and journalistic projects that cover current events in Cuba.
In the graph, among others, are CiberCuba, Cubanet, Diario de Cuba, 14ymedio, ADN Cuba, Martí Noticias, El Toque, Infobae, Tremenda Nota, and Cubanos por el Mundo.
In the center of the image is the message “Some of the U.S.-funded media against Cuba”, accompanied by lines that connect to the logos of the different platforms.
The Ireland Cuba Support Group was established in 1993 and claims to unite individuals from various political positions who support "Cuba's right to trade, develop, and determine its own future," in opposition to the United States sanctions against the Cuban regime.
It is essentially an organization that openly supports the Cuban regime and is now echoing false accusations against independent media like CiberCuba.
