A video circulated on social media this Saturday shows the official spokesperson Michel Torres Corona verbally confronting a citizen who challenged him on a street in Havana, calling him a “shameless communist.”
The images, which have proliferated on digital platforms, capture a moment of tension between the host of the controversial television program Con Filo and a man who confronts him directly.
In the brief exchange, the citizen calls him a "shameless communist," to which Torres responds: "Communist, yes; shameless, you are."
Then the man adds, "You have less edge than a spoon, buddy," to which the regime's spokesperson adopts a threatening tone and pretends to lunge at the person as if intending to hit him.
The interlocutor responds by warning him to be careful and states, "I know how to throw a hook," referring to a potential physical confrontation, while both maintain a close distance, after which Torres walks away.
The video has been widely shared on social media and shows Torres speaking with his interlocutor without hiding his identity, in a moment that reflects the increasing level of confrontation between regime propagandists and critical citizens.
The episode takes place amid new controversies surrounding Con Filo, a state television program frequently used to target opponents, independent journalists, and activists.
The confrontation also takes place in a context of increasing erosion of the official narrative.
Torres himself has recently acknowledged that the Cuban Revolution is "bogged down," although he maintains a public stance of defending the regime and attacking independent media.
While the country faces prolonged blackouts, shortages, and massive migration, countless Cubans have called for the cancellation of the Con Filo program, which continues to operate as a central piece of the government's propaganda machinery, systematically discrediting critical voices and presenting any questioning as part of a supposed agenda of external interference.
