Military personnel and civilians were deployed in front of the provincial headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in Sancti Spíritus, according to a photograph shared on social media that shows the presence of regime forces around the building.

According to the information shared by journalist José Raúl Gallego, the deployment would include both military personnel and civilians mobilized to respond in the event of confrontations with citizens, amidst a context of increasing social tension.

The incident takes place while protests and police operations are being reported in various parts of the country, especially in eastern Cuba.

Opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer also denounced this Sunday a heavy deployment of Ministry of Interior forces in Santiago de Cuba around the Provincial Court, as well as at the provincial and municipal headquarters of the Communist Party and other state institutions.

Ferrer also stated that in Holguín, three young people were taken to the Lucía Íñiguez Clinical Surgical Hospital after allegedly being beaten for participating in protests.

Independent communicator Yosmany Mayeta stated that orders had been given in Santiago de Cuba to suppress and detain individuals who attempt to go out and protest.

"Johnson gives the order to suppress and detain people who decide to protest in Santiago de Cuba," wrote Mayeta on social media, referring to Beatriz Johnson, the first secretary of the Communist Party in that province.

Reports of police and military deployments come amid a wave of protests and demonstrations that have taken place in various cities across the country in recent days, driven by prolonged power outages, shortages, and the decline in living conditions.
