A pot-banging protest took place in broad daylight in the Vista Alegre neighborhood of Ciego de Ávila, after more than 29 consecutive hours without electricity or water supply.

According to reports on social media, the video of the protest was posted this Tuesday on Facebook by the user Yonimiler Del Río Polo, where the sounds of pots being banged can be clearly heard from various apartments.

The demonstration took place amid growing discontent over the prolonged blackouts, which severely impact the daily lives of residents, especially the elderly, sick, and individuals with reduced mobility.

Residents reported difficulties in climbing stairs in buildings without electricity, as well as the situation of bedridden individuals who must be moved under precarious conditions.

According to testimonies, several police patrols and State Security agents quickly arrived at the scene while residents continued to protest from inside their homes.

The episode reflects the rise in discontent amid the energy crisis the country is experiencing, with prolonged blackouts occurring in various provinces and affecting essential basic services.

This new protest comes days after residents of the El Vaquerito neighborhood in the municipality of Morón, Ciego de Ávila, staged a nighttime affecting the area, according to images and comments shared on social media.

Dozens of Cubans took to the streets of the municipality of Morón to protest against power outages, food shortages, and the economic crisis, while shouting slogans of "Freedom!" and banging pots and pans.

The situation became more tense when neighbors set fire to the local headquarters of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) amidst public protests and reports of gunfire that allegedly left at least one young person injured.

According to independent journalist Guillermo Rodríguez Sánchez, a police officer allegedly fired his weapon, hitting a young man in the thigh who was near a campfire in the street, in front of the PCC headquarters.
