A malfunction in the electrical system of Havana caused disruptions across all blocks of the capital this Thursday, amid a scenario characterized by generation deficits and multiple service interruptions, just days after a massive blackout that left the entire country without power.

The Electric Company of Havana reported on its Telegram channel that at 10:52 in the morning, a failure occurred in a 110 kV line that affected several substations, including Naranjito, Melones, Príncipe, Tallapiedra, and Cerro.

Subsequently, the entity reported new disruptions due to a frequency automatic shot (DAF), which caused service interruptions in municipalities such as Playa, Habana del Este, and Boyeros, affecting multiple sectors and circuits.

Affected areas include locations such as Santa Fe, Jaimanitas, Guanabo, Campo Florido, Santiago de las Vegas, and several residential communities, within a context of instability in the electrical system.

Minutes later, the company confirmed that the energy deficit had reached 268 megawatts, with outages affecting all sectors in the capital.

The report detailed that the six blocks experienced interruptions at various times, and even emergency circuits were affected due to the low availability of generation.

The situation reflects the fragility of the electrical system on the Island, where outages and a lack of generation capacity continue to cause prolonged and simultaneous blackouts across vast areas of the country.

User complaints quickly surfaced on social media, where numerous residents of Havana reported prolonged blackouts, poor planning, and unequal distribution of electricity service.

"The day arrived when having electricity for two hours a day became the norm," wrote Irving Herrera, while Joycelin Arencibia Serrano questioned whether there were still areas with electricity in the capital.

From different municipalities, the complaints highlighted continuous power outages and a lack of information. "Not even half an hour of electricity and we're already in an emergency; this is inhumane," reported Yanet LG, a resident of San Miguel del Padrón.

Other users reported severe impacts on their daily lives. "An hour and a half of electricity, what can you do with that?" questioned Limay Vázquez Morfa, while Aimara Jiménez warned that the outages even prevent water from being pumped in buildings.

There were also direct criticisms of the management of the electrical system. "This is poorly planned,” stated Aluet MA, while Guillermo Fernández Nogues described the situation as "abuse" in areas of Vedado.

Amid the widespread discomfort, some users reported long periods without service. “Up to 15 and 18 hours without power,” stated Yindra Atenas, who also questioned the inequalities between circuits.

The persistence of blackouts and the lack of visible solutions continue to fuel citizen discontent in the capital, amid an energy crisis that is worsening across the country.
