Cuba is experiencing a new night of protests this Sunday, marked by pot-banging in various neighborhoods of Santiago de Cuba and reports from other areas of the country, amidst the energy crisis affecting the nation.
According to reports circulated on social media by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada, throughout various areas of Santiago, the sound of pots being banged was heard as a form of public discontent.
The complaints are arising just as many families begin to regain electrical service after the recent failure of the National Electroenergy System, a situation that left large areas of the Island without power for hours.
The protests reflect the population's exhaustion in the face of prolonged blackouts, shortages, and the deterioration of living conditions, in a context where power outages remain a constant even after the partial restoration of the system.
