Residents of Alamar staged new protests with pots and pans in Havana on the night of this Sunday, amidst the growing social discontent due to the economic crisis and the blackouts affecting the country.
According to images and reports shared by journalist Magdiel Castro on the social network X, loud protests with pots and pans were heard in the area, while alerts were also raised about mobile data service outages in some areas, which aligns with patterns observed in previous episodes of demonstrations.
The protests spread to other areas of the capital, including Bahía in East Havana, where there were also reports of pot-banging and a heavy police presence.
In the case of Bahía, witnesses reported that the situation escalated following incidents at a transportation stop. “Look at how things are in Bahía, they set fire to the stop and a group of patrols arrived,” states a message sent from the area.
The combination of protests, police presence, and connectivity issues reinforces the climate of tension in the Cuban capital, where public discontent continues to grow due to ongoing blackouts, shortages, and the decline in living conditions.
