The president Donald Trump will address the American nation this Wednesday at 9 PM Eastern Time to provide what the White House referred to as an important update on Iran.

The announcement was made yesterday by the White House spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, through her official account on X: "Tune in: tomorrow night at 9 PM Eastern Time, President Trump will deliver a speech to the nation to provide an important update on Iran."

The speech arrives at a moment of high diplomatic and military tension, just five days before the deadline for the suspension of American attacks on Iranian energy facilities, set for April 6.

Since February 28, the U.S. and Israel have been jointly carrying out Operation Epic Fury, which has targeted over 5,000 sites in Iran, including nuclear facilities, air defense systems, and military infrastructure.

Trump authorized the operation on February 27 while traveling on Air Force One. In the early days of the conflict, the supreme leader Ali Jamenei died, and Trump declared that the entire military command of Iran is dead.

Since then, the president has alternated between extreme military pressure and diplomatic signals. On March 27, he extended the pause on attacks against energy plants for an additional ten days, stating that the discussions "are going very well."

On March 30, Trump declared that Iran had already conceded on most of the demands of the plan consisting of 15 points presented by Washington, which calls for the complete dismantling of the nuclear program, the cessation of uranium enrichment, and an end to support for allied groups in the region.

The Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed yesterday that the peace talks with Iran are very real and are "ongoing," describing them as "gaining momentum."

However, Iran maintains a contradictory stance: Tehran admitted to reviewing the U.S. points through mediators, but its military publicly denied any agreement, and Ali Shamkhani, an advisor to the late Jamenei, labeled the control that Trump intends to exert over the Iranian nuclear program as "fantasy."

Also yesterday, China and Pakistan proposed a five-point plan to mitigate the conflict, with Pakistan coordinating with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt as additional mediators.

The speech tonight could announce a peace agreement, a resumption of attacks, or a new diplomatic extension, as it shapes up to be one of the most decisive moments of the conflict since its beginning.
