No one could even imagine the pain of this father whose 16-year-old son remains imprisoned in Cuba. From the depths of his anguish, Pastor Elier Muir Ávila only asks for one thing: that the reports and support do not cease.

The teenager Jonathan David Muir Burgos was ordered preventive detention by the Municipal Prosecutor's Office of Morón, accused of the crime of sabotage following his participation in a protest that took place in that locality of Ciego de Ávila.

Against this backdrop, Muir's father issued a public message expressing gratitude for the support received, but he insists that the pressure must not wane.

"I ask you not to stop, as we need it," she expressed, referring to the importance of maintaining visibility of the case to achieve her son's release.

The father also recalled the teenager's life outside of prison, connected to his family and the church, where he played the piano while his mother sang, and emphasized the need for him to receive medical care for an illness he suffers from.

The young man was detained on March 16 during a repressive operation following a demonstration in Morón, where several citizens protested against the situation in the country.

Human rights organizations have reported that during his detention he has been subjected to intimidating interrogations and is being kept in precarious conditions, without adequate procedural guarantees.

Moreover, a habeas corpus petition submitted by his defense was denied by the authorities, which has been interpreted as a sign of the lack of effective mechanisms to protect his rights.

The case has raised concerns among activists and family members, who fear for the safety of the teenager within the Cuban prison system.
